Deacon Rufus Henry Roseberry, Sr.

Deacon Rufus Henry Roseberry, Sr.

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Rufus Henry Roseberry, Sr.

Mr. Roseberry passed on Friday June 28 in Conyers Georgia.

Deacon Rufus Henry Roseberry, Sr. (Deacon Roseberry) was born in
Covington, GA (Newton County) on September 1, 1929, to the late Ethara
 Roseberry and Charlie Guthrie.

Deacon Roseberry was educated in Newton County where he completed the
seventh grade. At the age of 54, he obtained his high school diploma, and he
possessed a deep commitment to education which prompted him to obtain
 several certifications beyond his GED.

On December 26, 1953, Deacon Roseberry married his “Honey” Annie
Cornelius Glover in Newton County, Georgia. To this union, three children
were born—Rufus, Jr., Pamela, and Timothy. While his children were young,
Deacon Roseberry worked two full-time jobs to secure his legacy by
 purchasing land in Conyers, Georgia.

Upon retirement from MacGregor Golf, Deacon Roseberry began working at
Covington Electric where he worked until he decided it was time to become a
full-time granddaddy. He split duties with his “Honey”, and they cared
faithfully for their four youngest grandchildren until they all enrolled in
school. In 1999, Deacon Roseberry returned to the workforce at Kroger
Grocery Store in the produce department where he worked until 2015 at the
 age of 85 years old.

Deacon Roseberry will be remembered for being a God-fearing, hard
worker with a witty personality. He truly believed that you could have
anything you wanted in life if you were willing to simply work for it. He was a
handy man who never shied away from a challenge; he truly felt that he could
fix ANYTHING even if it was “fixed” with duct tape and a few screws. He was
also a devoted life-long fan of the Atlanta Braves, and he was forever denying
“his Braves” although he refused to miss a game.

He was a devoted life-long member of the Bald Rock Baptist Church in
Conyers, Georgia where he faithfully served as a deacon. Deacon Roseberry’s
unwavering faith in God allowed him to persevere through some of life’s most
trying times, and his strength and dedication to his family and friends will
forever permeate the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is now
reunited with his “Honey,” and we know they are both smiling down over us.

Deacon Roseberry leaves to cherish his memory, three children Rufus
(Joscelyn) Roseberry, Pamela (Tim) Easley, and Timothy (Lisa) Roseberry. Five
siblings Annie Maude Andrews, Ruedean Guthrie, Willie Guthrie, Freddie
Guthrie, and Gloria Jean Guthrie. Eight grandchildren, Erin (Quincy) Barnett,
Elena (Rudolph) Pointdujour, Elyse Roseberry, Ethara Roseberry, Dion (Shae)
Roseberry, Justin (Ashley) Easley, Cameron Easley, and Taylor Roseberry. Five
great-grandchildren, Winston, Wesley and Wyatt Barnett and Ryleigh and
Rudolph Pointdujour and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
