Senior Pastor Shipp became Shepherd of the Bald Bald Rock Baptist church in February 1997. He faithfully serves this church as leader, minister, counselor, musician, singer, director, and many other areas with his God-given gifts. Senior Pastor Shipp and the church have adopted the theme: Learning the Word and Lighting the World! This theme comes from Matthew 5:1-20, teaching us that we can only bring changes to the world through the word of God. This includes learning, teaching and living the word. He believes and teaches the church that we cannot grow to the level of prosperity that God has for us unless we constantly feed ourselves with the word of God. Further, he believes and teaches that we can always overcome personal problems and temptations through the word of God. There is victory in the word of God! As we grow, we help others to grow as well because we are Blessed To Be A Blessing.

He is a native of Conyers, Georgia. He is the son of the late Deacon Johnnie W. Shipp Sr and the late Mother Minnie Ola Shipp. He has three sisters, one deceased brother and a twin brother, Reverend Clarence Shipp. He have one son, At Peace, Christian Shipp, a Graduate of Morehouse College, and served as church drummer for several years.

Senior Pastor Shipp has been in the ministry since 1986 when he was licensed to preach God’s word. In 1988, he has ordained under the late Reverend G.F. Gude at his childhood church, Macedonia Baptist Church of Conyers, Georgia. Prior to becoming a minister, he was also ordained as a deacon in 1984 at Macedonia. He has been a church musician and choir director since 1980. Senior Pastor was a member of Macedonia from 1969 to 1988. He is now a member of the Springfield Baptist Church of Conyers. He has pastored at two other ministries (six years) and has organized several choirs in the local area.

He graduated from Rockdale County High School and has Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration and Sociology from Georgia Perimeter College. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary.

He is a community person as well, serving as one of the leaders of IMPACT Pastors Alliance, an executive board member of the Rockdale Branch NAACP, and a chaplain at Rockdale Piedmont Hospital.

He has extended arms and a big heart for all of God’s children!
