Obituary for Rev. Willie Clarence Banks

Willie Clarence Banks was born April 1, 1921, to Mr. Sammie Banks and Mattie Mae Lackey Banks. He was the fourth of eleven children. He was preceded in death by his
parents and seven siblings. He transitioned to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, July 14, 2024.Willie Clarence did not like farm life, and he knew in order for him to get a good paying job he would need an education.

He enlisted in the United States Army, where he was educated. During his military stay, he met Mildred Franklin, and his first child, Willie Mae, was the result of this relationship.
Willie Clarence married Eula Bell Lett on December 24, 1960, and they became parents of two daughters, Carla Banks and Robin Banks Camp. He retired from the Army as a Korean
and WWII veteran. He became a postal worker and retired in 1986.

He joined the Bald Rock Baptist Church at an early age and faithfully served as a deacon and usher under the leadership of Reverend Robert Shaw. He sang in the Rockdale Male Choir
which was later named the Bald Rock Male Chorus. In 1988, he was ordained as a minister. He served as a faithful member until his health failed.

Precious memories of Willie Clarence will live on and be cherished by his daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Mae Wells of Roswell, GA, Ms. Carla Banks of Villa Rica, GA, and Ms.
Robin Banks Camp of Conyers, GA; two granddaughters, Helen Banks and Tatiana Camp; one grandson, Armand Banks; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth
“Queen Liz” Robinson of Conyers, GA; two brothers, Willie B. Banks of Covington, GA, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Banks of Lithonia, GA; devoted niece and caregiver, Deacon Ronald
and Glenda Reynolds of Conley, GA; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Betty Lett and Ms. Juanita Lett of Conyers, GA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends of the
Needmore Street Community and various churches including Macedonia, Rock Springs, and Knox Chapel.
